La Coruña, February 5, 2025.- Jeffrey Marder, Ambassador of Canada to Spain, visited Ecoener´s facilities in A Coruña. He was welcomed by Luis de Valdivia, Ecoener’s chairman.
The Canadian Ambassador has shown interest in the renewable energy operations of the Spanish multinational and has also visited the San Bartolomé hydroelectric plant (La Coruña), one of the company’s most iconic facilities due to its model of landscape integration and absolute respect for environmental values.
The visit follows Ecoener´s announcement on December 12 that** it had been awarded a 140 MW wind power project in the Canadian** province of British Columbia with an investment of €290 million. The project, the first built by the company in Canada, will be developed in collaboration with the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation, one of Canada’s indigenous people, and Ecoener will hold the majority interest.
Jeffrey Marder, Canadian Ambassador to Spain, highlighted that “this project reflects Canada and Spain´s shared vision for a sustainable energy future and marks a milestone in strengthening bilateral economic ties.” Luis de Valdivia, Ecoener’s chairman, noted: “Canada is a very attractive country due to its long-term stability and legal security."
Wind farm in Prince George
Construction of the wind farm, in the area of Prince George (center-north of British Columbia, the westernmost province of Canada), will start in 2029 with an estimated annual output of 345GWh. The project will benefit from a tax incentive through the Investment Tax Credit.
Ecoener will provide green energy to BC Hydro (British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority), British Columbia’s public utility responsible for the project tender, which distributes electricity to five million people, nearly the entire population of the province.
