Ecoener reforests El Rodeo wind farm with half a thousand native plants

Reforestation - The El Rodeo wind farm, commissioned in September, now has around half a thousand new native plants arranged in a 5-metre wide ring around the entire park.

The plants were purchased from local nurseries in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, the municipality where the facilities are located, under a strict and careful selection of native species: aloe vera, cardon, candelabra, aeonium and verol. The native vegetation is better integrated into the landscape and is better adapted to the local soil and climate, which results in water consumption in accordance with the scarce rainfall in this area of the Canary Islands. To encourage its establishment, Ecoener has provided the new plantation with continuous irrigation. In addition, for better conservation of humidity and to avoid dust emission, the plantation and the surrounding land have been protected with netting.

The reforestation is part of the company’s Sustainability Policy, committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The greatest beneficiary of revegetation with native species is the environment, which in turn maintains the stability of ecosystems. Ecoener’s commitment is to do so consistently, reforesting areas of value to communities, benefiting the ecosystem and collaborating with local companies.

Ecoener has always had its sights set on the long term and is committed to creating value, ensuring balance and respect for the natural habitat and the development of the communities where it operates.
