Ecoener and the women’s football team Ginelux Juan Grande, of the Iberdrola Challenge League, have signed a sponsorship agreement for the new 2021/22 season.
Ecoener, a company listed on the stock exchange since last May, manages 7 wind farms of its own in the town of San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Gran Canaria), with a total installed power of 51.6 MW, which means a great impact on the environment of the island.
Fernando Rodríguez, vice-president of Ecoener, said after signing the agreement that “today is a great day for us; with this sponsorship, we begin a great adventure with a women’s football club that perfectly shares many of our values, such as teamwork, effort and the vocation for the permanent achievement of long-term objectives. For Ecoener, sustainability is not a fashionable business trend. Wherever we are, we seek positive and lasting impacts on people, the environment and society, in this case with this important contribution to women’s football in Gran Canaria”.
Juan Francisco Herrera, vice-president of Club Deportivo Juan Grande and head of the women’s section, values Ecoener’s support as “a fundamental pillar” for achieving this season’s objectives.
Ecoener is a renewable energy company that operates in 11 countries, committed to sustainable development since its birth more than 30 years ago, with the aim of preserving the environment and contributing to social development in the areas where it is present. Ecoener applies sustainability criteria to the design, construction and operation of photovoltaic plants, wind farms and hydroelectric developments.
The Ginelux Juan Grande is already preparing for the start of the League on 5 September. The Ginelux’s first rival will be Real Madrid and the match will be played at the Gran Canarian team’s home ground.
