The president of Ecoener, Luis de Valdivia, winner of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2022 in Galicia

Luis de Valdivia, president and founder of the renewable energy multinational Ecoener, has been proclaimed winner for Galicia of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2022 organised by EY.

The ceremony took place today in La Coruña, during a lunch attended by numerous representatives from the business and institutional world. Miguel Corgos López-Prado, Regional Minister of Finance and Public Administration, presented the award to the winner.

After thanking the award, Luis de Valdivia pointed out that “an entrepreneur must show passion in what he does and enjoy the satisfaction of sharing his project with the people around him, in order to give back to the society in which we live what it gives us”. In his words, “when you have been an entrepreneur for a long time, you realise that the feeling you should have above all else is gratitude”.

De Valdivia stressed that "when we started in the renewable energy sector, more than 30 years ago, the concept of sustainability did not exist, but we were aware that we had to do things differently: integrate nature and energy generation. We are not becoming sustainable over time. We were born sustainable and it is in our DNA.

Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Luis de Valdivia will compete in the national final of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award, which will take place in 2023. Subsequently, the national winner of this edition will compete in Monte Carlo with around 60 representatives from around the world to win the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award.

The Entrepreneur of the Year Award, promoted by EY, was founded in the United States in 1986 and this year reaches its 26th edition in Spain. These awards aim to give the right social and institutional support to those entrepreneurs, promoters and managers of their own business, who with their wisdom and generosity contribute to creating wealth and employment in our country.
