San Bartolomé Hydroelectric Power Plant

San Bartolomé Hydroelectric Power Plant

12MW Installed Power

Monfero, Coruña, Galicia, Spain

Location

This hydroelectric power plant, located in the Fragas de Eume natural park (La Coruña, Spain), next to the San Bartolomé river, is our most characteristic installation. In addition to its location (a place known for Galician legends), it is an example of integration into the natural environment.

The building that houses the plant is built with traditional materials, in such a way that it does not break with the beauty of the forest in which it is located, and even incorporates in its design a porch area that serves as a passage and shelter for hikers and fishermen in the area.

We conditioned the stone weir in masonry and added a fish ladder of successive ponds to facilitate their migratory movements. The ladder is covered with natural stone and even uses rocks from the riverbed itself for its formation, which means greater protection of the habitat and also significantly improves its integration into the landscape.
