Ecoener creates Fragas do Eume Foundation to help preserver the natural park

  • The foundation has been declared to be of Galician interest by the regional government of Galicia.

21 April 2023.- Ecoener Group has set up the Fragas do Eume Foundation for the defence, conservation, protection and planning of the environment and the diversity of the Fragas do Eume natural park. The foundation has just been declared of Galician interest by the regional government of Galicia.

“Sustainability was ingrained in our DNA long before the concept ever existed, and we adopted it from the outset as our management and growth model. But we want to go one step further. Not only do we want our facilities to continue to be an example of environmental integration, we want to go one step further by preserving and improving the environment around them, especially the Fragas del Eume,” said Ecoener Chairman Luis de Valdivia.

Improving landscape quality

The Fragas do Eume Foundation aims to enhance the quality of the landscape by actively participating in preserving the natural environment and promoting land stewardship.

Ecoener will also support and carry out initiatives to restore the natural environment by promoting habitat preservation and fighting fire risks and soil erosion.

The Fragas do Eume, which spans over 9,000 hectares, is one of the best-preserved Atlantic riverside forests in southern Europe and was declared a natural park on 12 August 1997.

The inaugural Board of Trustees of the Fragas do Eume Foundation is made up of Luis de Valdivia as Chairman, Inés Juste as Vice-Chair and Fernando Rodríguez as Secretary.

For more than 35 years, Ecoener has been committed to preserving biodiversity and has financially supported various social and environmental projects in the countries where it operates.
