Ecoener builds 149 MW in Guatemala and will lead photovoltaic energy production in the country

• The company has secured a $64 million green financing with the BAC Financial Group in collaboration with the Dutch public development bank FMO.

• The photovoltaic power stations Yolanda and El Carrizo will have an installed power of 74 and 75 MW, respectively.

A Coruña. 17 April 2024.-  Ecoener continues advancing in its international growth plan by increasing its asset portfolio.  The company is building the 74 MW Yolanda and 75 MW El Carrizo photovoltaic plants in Guatemala at a good pace. The projects are located in the region of Escuintla, on the southern coast of the country.

The facilities, with a total installed power of 149 MWp, will make the group, headed by Luis de Valdivia, the leader in photovoltaic generation in the Central American country.

Green financing

The company has signed a $64 million green credit line with the BAC Financial Group in collaboration with the Dutch public development bank FMO.

The institutions specialises in supporting projects committed to environmental care, reduction of energy consumption and best practices based on the regulations and standards established by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank.

The financing will be devoted to the Yolanda photovoltaic power station, with a 10-year PPA and an estimated production of 165 Gwh/year. This amounts to the equivalent of the annual consumption of 41,000 households and will prevent the emission of over 80,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.

Ecoener currently has an asset portfolio of 740 MW, 341 of them in generation and 399 under construction; the company is thus advancing towards its goal of achieving 1,000 MW in operation and under construction by 2025.
