A Coruña, September 19, 2023.- Ecoener will earn more than 250 million dollars over 15 years after signing two PPAs with Empresa Distribuidora de Electricidad del Este S.A., one of the leading energy marketing and distribution companies in Dominican Republic.

Ecoener has grown from 203 MW to 300 MW in operation with the start-up of the Cumayasa 1 and 2 photovoltaic plants, with a total of 97 MW installed.

The CEO of Ecoener, Luis de Valdivia, said that the start-up of the two new photovoltaic parks in the Dominican Republic “are the first step in a period of strong growth for Ecoener”, and consolidates its diversified growth in both technological and geographical terms.

ESG commitment

The two photovoltaic solar plants Cumayasa 1 and 2 have a production capacity of 192 GWh by year, equivalent to the consumption of 48,000 households. The facilities will prevent the annual emission of 140,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere and the consumption of 17,000 tonnes of fossil fuels.

Apart from contributing to the decarbonisation of the country, the photovoltaic panels have been installed entirely by women, boosting the social economy in the areas surrounding the project sites.
