Cierves Hydroelectric Power Plant

The plant is located between a railway line and the Miño river bank, between the municipalities of Ribadavia and Melón (Orense, Galicia). We were inspired to make the plant building of granite with a roof similar to the local farmhouses.

We worked to preserve the existing vegetation on the banks of the Cierves and Miño rivers and planted autochthonous species where necessary; the plant is now a favourite spot for anglers and hikers, who can take shelter in the porch.

The expansion of the hydroelectric development was 3.1MW, which was added to the 5MW it already had. Commissioning was in the middle of the first quarter of 2023.
