San Bartolomé Hydroelectric Power Plant

San Bartolomé Hydroelectric Power Plant

Located alongside the San Bartolomé River in the Fragas de Eume natural park (La Coruña, Spain), this is our most characteristic facility. In a location steeped in Galician legend, the plant is an outstanding example of integration into the surroundings.

The plant building is made of traditional materials so as to blend in with the surrounding forest, and its broad porch gives hikers and anglers shelter from the elements.

The rock weir was clad with masonry and we built a fish ladder consisting of a series of ponds to facilitate their seasonal movements. The ponds are lined with stone and the ladder uses part of the original watercourse, which provides greater habitat protection and notably improves integration into the landscape.
